James A. Kee, Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1958 and raised in Decatur, Alabama. He graduated from Auburn University in 1981 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. While attending Auburn, Mr. Kee was selected for membership in the Omicron Delta Kappa honorary society. Upon graduation from Auburn, he worked in the consulting section of Arthur Andersen in Atlanta.

Mr. Kee graduated from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1985. While at Cumberland, he was an Associate Editor of the Cumberland Law Review. Following law school, Mr. Kee practiced at the Birmingham firms Spain & Gillon, L.L.C. and Wallace, Jordan, Ratliff & Brandt, L.L.C. before forming his present firm.

Mr. Kee's practice has been primarily in the area of civil litigation with an emphasis in insurance and corporate defense. He specializes in construction litigation (residential and commercial), insurance coverage litigation as well as the defense of a variety of personal injury claims (products liability, construction accidents, automobile accidents and premises liability). His litigation work includes significant state, federal and appellate court practice. He also maintains a business law practice.

Mr. Kee has been selected for inclusion into Alabama Super Lawyers (for both Insurance and Business Litigation) and The Best Lawyers in America (Construction and Insurance). He was recently selected by The Best Lawyers in America publication as the Birmingham Construction Lawyer of the Year for 2014. He has an AV rating (the highest possible) from Martindale Hubbell, the premier lawyer rating service and has been awarded its 'Top Rated Lawyer Designation' for Construction Law, Insurance Law and Litigation. He is a member of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, Alabama State Bar and admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Alabama. He is also admitted to practice in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Jim has been married 30 years to his wife Vera, a 1983 graduate of Florida State and 1986 graduate of Cumberland School of Law. They have two children, Sarah Chase, a graduate of Samford University and Becca, a graduate of Auburn University. Jim attends Church of the Highlands in Birmingham and is involved in JH Ranch and its ministries.
